Play a pivotal role in a specialised unit that focuses on the management of commercial agribusinesses on Indigenous land in partnership with Indigenous people.
The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity assisting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to realise the economic, social, cultural, and environmental benefits that the ownership and management of land, water and water-related rights can bring.
ILSC Agribusiness is a specialised unit of the ILSC that focuses on the management of commercial agribusinesses on Indigenous land in partnership with Indigenous people. ILSC Agribusiness currently operates agricultural businesses, including beef cattle, fine-wool merino sheep, a community-based meatworks, and a cattle export depot.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a range of functions associated with the operation of multiple agribusinesses, including transitioning of the operations from the ILSC/Primary Partners Pty Ltd (PPPL) to the ownership of Traditional Owners.
- Play a key role in fostering industry engagement and partnerships to generate positive outcomes and benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within the agribusiness sector.
- Manage staff of the Agribusiness Operations area in a professional and competent manner.
- Lead and manage corporate initiatives to ensure the team meets its agribusiness strategy and corporate governance requirements (including managing the team’s audit, risk, and compliance obligations).
Skills Experience
- Experience in Northern Pastoral agribusiness or similar
- Cross-cultural communication skills with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander cultures
- Expertise in Indigenous land/resource management & environmental issues
- Strong analytical skills for high-level report preparation
- Effective communication & negotiation abilities with internal/external stakeholders
- Proficiency in conducting negotiations with a variety of stakeholders
- Valid driver’s licence
