The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC) are inviting expressions of interest from individuals, businesses and organisations to operate the Home Valley Station tourism facility (HV8) on the iconic Gibb River Road in the East Kimberley.
On the banks of the Pentecost River, HV8 offers a pastoral tourism experience that offers some of the best accommodation and camping located in the Kimberley. It has a range of accommodation (including camping, powered sites, grass castles and guesthouse rooms) and activities for all travellers.
Home Valley pastoral lease was purchased in 1999 by the ILSC. Following the purchase, ILSC upgraded and diversified the tourism accommodation at the homestead site in 2005. With the acquisition of Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia (Voyages) into the ILSC portfolio in 2011, the operation and management of the tourism facility was transferred to Voyages in 2012. On 1 July 2020 Voyages ceased management of HV8, however the current on-site management has been retained by the ILSC until a decision is made regarding future management.
The tourism facility on Home Valley Station has been operating on a Pastoral Lease diversification permit under the Land Administration Act WA 1997 since 2005. The ILSC is the current pastoral leaseholder of Home Valley Station until such time as the property is transferred to Indigenous people, consistent with the ILSC’s legislative mandate (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Act 2005).
In the interim, the ILSC is seeking an operator who is committed to engaging with Traditional Owners and providing employment and training opportunities for Indigenous people in land management and tourism.
To register your interest please email your completed submission form to HV8EOI@ILSC.gov.au by COB WST, Friday 14 August 2020.
Shortlisted proponents will be invited to inspect the property in September 2020. Shortlisted proponents may then be requested to prepare a final proposal for consideration.
