Site Visual Design

The text size for content text uses xx-small, x-small, small, medium, large, x-large, xx-large, rather than point sizes or percentages. Our testing has shown that percent based font sizes can cause errors on Macintosh browsers. Set fonts sizes (such as 10pt), which would override your own preferred browser settings, are not used.

All web pages in our web site detect the type of browser you are using to display the web page appropriately for your browser. Separate style sheets are used for Netscape and Internet Explorer Browsers.

Recommended Browsers

The ILSC website will look best using the following browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari
  • Opera
  • Microsoft Edge

When using browsers other than those recommended, some settings may need to be changed and, in some cases, graphics or text may not align properly and some functions may not work properly or may be slower.

Due to browser incompatibility with Internet Explorer, it is recommended that you use an alternative browser to view the ILSC website.

JavaScript

This site is enhanced with JavaScript. If you have JavaScript turned off, or are using a browser that doesn’t have JavaScript, you will still be able to use the ILSC site.

Pages that require Additional or Plug-in Software

Some pages on this website require proprietary software or web browser plug-ins.For example, several PDF or Portable Document Format pages are available on this website and require Adobe Acrobat Reader to be installed on your computer. Adobe Acrobat Reader is available free of charge from the Adobe website http://www.adobe.com. Adobe also as special software and resources for users with disabilities available at http://access.adobe.com. If need be, you can contact the ILSC to obtain the document in a format that suits your requirements.

Where files are of a larger size, we may compress them to ensure the time required to download these documents is reduced. In order to open compressed files you will need a software compression utility such as Winzip, PKUnzip or StuffIt – a number of compression utilities are available and can be readily downloaded from the Internet.

Users with Hearing Impairments

The ILSC website does not currently contain any audio or video clips that would require separate text descriptions.

Users with Visual Impairments

All images on this site contain descriptive alternative text. In most cases images on the site will not require any additional descriptive information other than that which is provided in the ALT text description.? Where additional information and descriptions are required, for example for flow charts, tables and organisational charts that have been provided in graphical format a “D” link has been provided.? A “D” link will take you to a more detailed description of the image.
