The role delivers the ILSC's annual disclosure under the Australian Government's Commonwealth Climate Disclosure policy, applies the Climate Risk and Opportunity Management Program (CROMP) methodology to identify, assess and treat climate-related risks and opportunities, and develops the analysis and options that enable the Board to determine the ILSC's emissions boundary, emissions reduction target and reduction pathway. -
The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander 2005 Act (Cth) (‘the Act’) and subject to the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013. The ILSC assists Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to realise economic, social, cultural and environmental benefits that the ownership and management of land, water and water related rights can bring. The ILSC provides this assistance through the acquisition and management of rights and interests in land, salt water and fresh water country.

Reporting to the Manager, Risk and Assurance, the Senior Sustainability Officer works under broad direction and exercises considerable independence in determining how the work program is planned and delivered. Decisions on the ILSC's emissions boundary, emissions reduction target and reduction pathway are reserved for the Board. The role prepares the evidence, options and advice on which those decisions are made, and implements them once taken.

-
Lead the preparation of the ILSC’s annual climate disclosure, coordinating contributions across the organisation and ensuring compliance with Commonwealth Climate Disclosure policy, Department of Finance requirements and annual reporting timeframes.
-

-
Apply the Climate Risk and Opportunity Management Program (CROMP) to identify, assess, prioritise, treat and monitor climate-related risks and opportunities across the ILSC Group.
-
Coordinate climate risk mitigation and adaptation activities, maintaining the climate risk register and treatment plan, working with risk owners to track progress, address barriers and provide accurate reporting to the Executive, Audit and Risk Committee and Board.
-
Lead emissions reduction planning, working with the Finance team to ensure data quality, accurate application of reporting frameworks and development of advice to inform the ILSC’s emissions boundary, targets and reduction pathway.
-
Provide high-level climate risk, disclosure and emissions advice to senior leaders and governance bodies, preparing Board and Executive papers, briefings and correspondence and translating complex technical information into clear, actionable advice.
-
Monitor emerging Commonwealth climate and sustainability requirements and build organisational capability, providing guidance to business areas and representing the ILSC in engagement with relevant Commonwealth departments and external stakeholders.
-
Completion of an appropriate tertiary qualification will be viewed favourably. Relevant fields include
