Today, the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC) has released its podcast series titled The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation – 30 Years of Change.
The podcast hosted by the ILSC’s Group Chief Executive Officer Joe Morrison has been released during the AIATSIS Summit 2025 as the organisation celebrates 30 years of delivering positive outcomes for First Nations communities across Australia.
The series features guests who have all played a part throughout the ILSC’s 30-year long journey.
Episode 1 – released today – features Ian Hamm, a Yorta Yorta man and Chair of the ILSC. The first episode introduces the ILSC, its origins following the landmark Mabo decision, and its foundational role in supporting Indigenous self-determination through land and sea management over the past 30 years. Ian shares his insights and gives listeners a glimpse into the future of the ILSC, and what it means for the ILSC’s partners, under the National Indigenous Land and Sea Strategy 2023-28.
Episode 2 will feature Pauly Vandenbergh with Barry Hunter and Peter Yu confirmed for upcoming episodes.
ILSC Group Chief Executive Joe Morrison said the podcast series will give listeners the opportunity to hear stories of change from some of Australia’s most respected Indigenous leaders.
“It has been a privilege to record these conversations with such inspirational Indigenous leaders, and I’m grateful for the insights they have shared,” said Mr Morrison.
“Listeners can expect insightful conversations about some of the most pressing issues across the Indigenous land and sea management space. We deep dive into topics such as Indigenous economic empowerment, climate change and clean energy, environment and emerging markets, and Indigenous enterprise.
“What has stood out to me is the countless success stories these Indigenous leaders are able to share and the opportunities they are able to highlight given their professional and life experiences.”
ILSC Chair Ian Hamm said the podcast provided the opportunity to reflect on the ILSC’s achievements over the organisation’s first 30 years of operations.
“It was a pleasure to chat with Joe about the beginnings of the ILSC following the Mabo decision and how the ILSC’s responsibilities quickly outgrew its remit,” said Mr Hamm.
“We know that as Australia’s first peoples, our connection to this land has never been broken. The ILSC plays a fundamental role in returning land to its rightful owners, and it was a privilege to sit down with Joe to discuss how the ILSC will continue its significant work over the next 30 years.”
The ILSC – 30 Years of Change podcast is available on Youtube and Spotify from Tuesday 3 June 2025.
