Minister for Indigenous Australians, the Hon Ken Wyatt AM MP, has appointed Ms Claire Filson to the role of Deputy Chairperson of the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC).

Ms Filson’s 20 years of experience on Government boards will be a tremendous addition to the ILSC as a Commonwealth Government entity.

ILSC Chairperson Mr Eddie Fry welcomes Ms Filson to the ILSC while acknowledging the invaluable contributions of former Deputy Chairperson, Mr Joseph Elu AO.

The ILSC has an important role in assisting Indigenous Australians to realise the benefits that owning and managing country can bring, this being land, saltwater or freshwater country. Ms Filson’s extensive industry experience in infrastructure, property and financial services will be a significant contribution to the ILSC’s important role.

“Ms Filson joins the ILSC at an exciting time. We are observing the benefits of our legislative changes expanding our remit into water, and the positive financial returns of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Land and Sea Future Fund (ATSILSFF), the ILSC’s primary source of funding,” ILSC Chairperson Mr Fry said.

“The ILSC Board will be richer for the important credentials that Ms Filson brings and thanks the Minister for his support of the appointment.”

Ms Filson’s appointment commences immediately providing an opportune time for her skills and experience to support the Board through significant strategic planning and annual reporting activities.
