Renewable and Clean Energy

Australia is changing how it makes electricity by using more clean and renewable energy, like solar and wind. Clean energy projects can bring cheaper power, new jobs, and help build stronger communities.

The clean energy market is growing fast. Governments and companies are investing billions of dollars in solar farms, wind farms, batteries, and microgrids.

Australia is changing its electricity production to help fight climate change. This means using more solar, wind, and other renewable energy sources instead of coal and gas.

First Nations people have a big role to play in this change because of strong connections to Country and legal rights over much of the land. Some communities are building solar farms; others are setting up microgrids and battery systems to power remote areas. These projects can help communities save money, stay safe during extreme weather, and create local jobs.

There are lots of ways you can be part of the clean energy future:

For Households

  • Make homes more energy efficient
  • Explore opportunities to use solar panels, home batteries, and electric vehicles to see if these are suitable
  • Manage energy bills and choose the right energy provider

For Communities

  • Explore opportunities for community-led projects like household solar panels, microgrids and community batteries
  • Use toolkits and guides available to plan energy projects
  • Apply for funding and training to build skills and jobs

For Leaders and Organisations

  • Partner with clean energy companies
  • Join networks like the First Nations Clean Energy Network
  • Use maps and planning tools to find the best places for energy projects
