Develop a plan

With clear goals, respectful partnerships, and strong leadership, a plan becomes more than a roadmap—it becomes a way to build confidence, create change, and feel proud of your work.

A plan isn’t just about being organised—it’s about being ready, respectful, and responsible.

Project plans should be flexible so they can change if needed. They should be based on cultural knowledge, values, and ways of working. This helps build trust, supports community leadership, and leads to better and longer-lasting results.

Use these individual checklists and guides, or the Workbook, to build a project plan for new activities on Country.

Acknowledgement of Country

In all of the ILSC’s activities we pay our respect to the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands, waters and skies on which we live and work. We honour the resilience and continuing connection to Country, culture, and community of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Australia. We recognise the decisions we make today will impact the lives of generations to come.
