The Indigenous rural training project based at Trelawney Station will continue for 12 months following a successful employment open day recently at the Somerton property.
The Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC) decision to continue the project follows a positive response from local primary producers wanting to employ Indigenous trainees, as part of their Certificate III in Agriculture.
Through New England North West Group Training, the trainees will be assigned to host employers for 12 months, but reside at Trelawney with the ILC covering the cost of accommodation and transport.
The Commonwealth Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has provided funding for mentoring support for the trainees and employers, and the Commonwealth Department of Education Employment and Workplace Relations also provides substantialtraing funds.
There are more opportunities for local employers to take advantage of the employment training package and enquiries can be directed to New England North West Group Training on (02) 6762 6755.
