Vale Bruce Martin

The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC) is saddened to learn of the passing of former ILSC Director, Bruce Frank Martin.

A Wik (Apalech) man from the community of Aurukun on western Cape York (Queensland) he was a remarkable young leader and outstanding representative of his people. He served as a Director of the ILSC between 2015 and 2021. His legacy will continue through the work he contributed to the development of Aurukun, Cape York and beyond.

Ian Hamm, ILSC Chair extended his condolences to Mr Martin’s family and friends during this difficult time.

“We are deeply saddened to hear the news of Bruce’s passing,” said Mr Hamm.

“My thoughts, and the thoughts of the entire ILSC, are with Bruce’s family, friends, and community.”

ILSC Group Chief Executive Officer, Joe Morrison said “Having known and been a colleague and friend of Mr Martin before our time at the ILSC I can attest that his vision was one with his elders by finding economic prosperity whilst ensuring integrity in Wik history and culture, he will be sadly missed.”
