Who are we?
The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander 2005 Act (Cth) (‘the Act’) and subject to the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013. The ILSC assists Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to realise economic, social, cultural and environmental benefits that the ownership and management of land, water and water related rights can bring. The ILSC provides this assistance through the acquisition and management of rights and interests in land, salt water and fresh water country.
What are the roles?
Project Officer (Identified Vacancy) ($80,871 – $87,870)
Under the guidance of the Operations manager, we’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Project Officer to join our team. In this role, you’ll work closely with colleagues to support projects that deliver lasting economic, environmental, social, and cultural benefits to First Nations communities. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are well-managed, on track, and aligned with strategic goals. Your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring compliance and helping to ensure project milestones are met on time
- Supporting community-focused activities that enable informed decisions about land ownership and management
- Gathering and analysing information, preparing clear reports, and contributing to risk assessments that guide investment decisions
- Producing high-quality reports and briefings within agreed deadlines
- Providing accurate, accessible advice on company policies and procedures to assist applicants and stakeholders—referring complex matters to senior staff as needed

Project Advisor ($101,004 – $111,983)
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Project Advisor will play a key role in supporting Indigenous organisations to unlock opportunities in land and water management. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to progress projects to an investment-ready stage, support land management for future divestment, and help maximise sustainable outcomes across the Indigenous Estate.
This is a dynamic role that combines relationship-building, strategic thinking, and project delivery. You’ll help bring ideas to life; developing proposals, evaluating opportunities, and guiding projects through to successful completion in line with organisational priorities and policy.
In this role, you will:
- Facilitate collaborative project development with stakeholders to deliver sustainable economic, environmental, social, or cultural benefits for Indigenous communities
- Proactively develop and assess proposals that support land and water acquisition or management
- Conduct research, due diligence, and feasibility assessments to build strong business cases for investment
- Organise and lead workshops that support informed decision-making and help set long-term goals for land and water management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous organisations, stakeholders, and partner agencies
- Prepare high-quality reports, board papers, and briefings that support transparency and effective decision-making
